Plays Well With Others

My kids, apparently CAN play well together! I sometimes wonder, especially on days when I tend to be a referee more than a mom (although, those also tend to be the days that I am distracted by the fact that there is a pile of clean laundry on my bed waiting to be put away, dirty dishes that need a home and, dust bunnies waiting to attack at any moment!) But this morning, they actually spent close to an hour playing nicely (the kids, not the dust bunnies) with eachother without any interference from me. The bedroom wasn't even a total disaster when I went to tell them it was time for groceries (luckily they are still young enough that it is fun to shop with Mommy!) How did I spend my hour kid 'free'? Cleaning....what else would I do? :)
It was what I needed this morning, a chance to unpack from our trip and get things in order without having my clothes tugged on or hollered at that someone was doing something to someone else!! It totally changed my attitude (which was on the rather crusty side when I awoke this morning....we're blaming THAT on the thunder storm that I just *HAD* to watch at 5am!) And it casued me to stop and be thankful for the little things in life that I so often take for granted (like kids playing nicely together). So to thank them for being so good, seeing as their 'playing well with others' continued to the grocery store (they sat in the cart, side by side without touching and poking and pushing and teasing eachother!) we made cupcakes when we got home. Now they are napping and I am waiting for the cupcakes to cool so I can get the icing ready for when they wake up!
Sitting here looking out the window, it looks like we are in for another thunder storm. I am super excited. I think thunder storms have got to be one of my favourite things, they are definately high on the list. I love the power behind them. It reminds me of just how powerful and beautiful God is. I could watch storms for hours. Sadly, we do not get many really good storms here. Not sure why, but it makes me long for the storms of Southern Ontario!
Below are random pics of an evening we spent a a park on Lake Superior :)

Riding the 'choo-choo'
(Alexandra calls canons choo-choo trains. Not really sure why, but I think it's just to get a rise out of her brother!)

Thunderstorms and the power of God... now those are AMAZING! Praying that you get to see a rainbow or two as well!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Soooo.. happy to hear YOU'RE having a great day. I think I'm going to start separating my kids from each other - they are just too dangerous and don't even know it! That storm WAS great, but I stayed in bed! :) Love the new layout! Hope you have another great one tomorrow too!
