One Proud Little Boy!

Two nights ago I cut the tip off his soother. Owen looked at it and informed me that there was a "big hole", he set it on the pillow beside him and that was the end of that. He went two nights (and one nap) without it so yesterday evening after dinner we went up to Zellars and he got to choose his 'big boy' treat.

He was SO proud walking up and down the aisles carrying clenching his soother in his fist. After much thought, he settled on the rocket ship.

At the cash, the lady looks at him and says "You have your sucky, shouldn't you have left that at home?" so I smile and explain what is happening and she climbs on the band wagon making a B.I.G deal about it.

Owen hands her the rocket ship, then hands her the money (he insisted on paying), gets the change and hands her the soother. She looked at me and said "Are you sure?"

YUP! It's time. Mommy Owen is ready to let it go.

She took the rocket out of the package for him and he flew it all the way to Metro at the other end of the mall so we could go and he could choose an ice cream (the other part of his treat).

He even forgot to be shy and was telling everyone about giving his soother to the lady and getting the rocket and ice cream.

Let me tell you, it was the best $6.00 I have spent in, probably ever!

There is one proud little boy, and one happy-sad mommy in our house tonight.
